腾越位于云南省西南部,现名腾冲。20世纪初大清国家邮政开办后,在云南当时基本上有两条邮路,东西各一条。由于云南省位于云贵高原,境内高山大川纵横交错,交通十分不便,与内地没有固定的陆上邮路。从昆明寄往内地的函件,主要是通过蒙自,由河口进入安南(越南),再从河内,经海运至上海或天津。滇西邮件则是集中腾越,向西南约百余公里,进入当时英国殖民地缅甸,出海至世界各地。
Teng Yue is located in southwestern Yunnan Province, the current name of Tengchong. After the opening of the National Postal Service in the early 20th century in Qing Dynasty, there were basically two postal routes in Yunnan at that time, one for each.
