Percutaneous puncture microwave coagulation therapy (PMCT) is a new technique for the treatment of substantial tumors. Unlike other interstitial therapies, it uses thermal energy to treat it. The authors treated 9 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma with a diameter of more than 3cm with PMCT. Nine cases of transcatheter arterial embolization were performed within 9 weeks before PMCT. None of them resulted in complete necrosis of the tumor. Biopsy of the lesions found surviving tumor cells. The author specially designed a needle electrode with a diameter of 1.6mm and a length of 25cm. It consists of a stainless steel needle (outer pole) and a 1cm long monopolar electrode (inner pole) on the top. Microwaves are emitted between the inner and outer poles. It was launched with a microwave tissue coagulator that emitted 2450-MHz microwaves. For local anesthesia, a 14-gauge, 17-cm-long guide puncture needle is inserted through the rib or intercostal space into the lesion, and then the electrode needle is introduced through it.
