戴明,日本人尊称之为“第三次工业革命之父”与“品质之神”。1982年,他推出14要诀,作为拯救美国工业危机的良方。他认为美国产品的品质、生产力与竞争地位日趋薄弱,皆源于高层管理者管理失败所致。只有转变美国的风格及政府与工业界的关系,才能遏止工业之衰退。1986年,美国政府设立联邦品质学院,同时设立品质改进典范和总统品质奖,奖励实施戴明14要诀具有成效者。14要诀更广为世人所知。 戴明14要诀主要内容为:
Deming, the Japanese honored as “the father of the third industrial revolution” and “the god of quality.” In 1982, he introduced 14 tips as a recipe to save the American industrial crisis. He believes that the quality, productivity and competitive position of U.S. products are getting weaker, all due to the failure of top management. Only by changing the American style and the relations between the government and industry can a decline in industry be halted. In 1986, the U.S. government set up the Federal Institute of Quality, setting up a model for quality improvement and presidential quality award, and rewarding the successful implementation of Deming’s 14 tips. 14 tips more widely known to the world. Deming 14 tips The main content is:
