Host: If the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations is achieved, it is the common wish of the compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to live in the common interest. On May 14, 2009, the State Department’s “Opinions on Supporting Fujian Province to Accelerate the Building of an Economic Zone on the West Bank of the Taiwan Strait” gave Fujian a pilot preemptive right to Taiwan and allowed Fujian to adopt a more flexible and open policy to explore pilot projects for cross-Strait cooperation. The establishment of pilot areas for cross-Strait cooperation in the conditional coastal areas of Fujian and the exploration of cross-Strait economic cooperation mechanisms with a view to promoting cross-Strait economic, social and political integration are both important preemptive tests for the economic zone on the western coast of the Taiwan Strait and an important policy for building cross-Strait people
