杨树是我国重要的速生树种之一,繁殖容易,适应性强,是平原造林、四旁植树主要树种。嘉祥县营造杨树丰产林3万多亩,四旁植树120万株,全国共营造杨树丰产林350万亩,杨树总面积达到3800余万亩,四旁植树35亿株,适时开发杨树资源的加工利用,是解决我县乃至我国木材短缺,保证杨树栽培和继续发展的一个重大问题。同时,开发利用杨树资源,要确定杨树综合利用方针,并进行定向培育。
