“共产党的干部要乐于结穷亲戚,因为这些穷亲戚最需要党的温暖”,这是武汉市武昌区信访办公室副主任吴天祥说的一句话。10多年来,他先后为数十户“穷亲戚”排忧解难。孤寡老人王老太从1981年起就得到吴天祥的照料,三伏天送饮料、三九天送煤炭,逢年过节送鱼送肉。老人临终时留下唯一的一句话:“我是老来得子,有福气啊！”年近八旬的曾桂老人,儿子坐牢,儿媳病逝,留下未成年的孙子、孙女、祖孙三人靠100余元的生活费度日。吴天祥一有空就去看望、接济他们的生活,并帮助孩子联系学校、复习功课。老人正在服刑的儿子知道后十分感动,从狱中给吴天祥写信:“您与我非亲非故,却以党的干部的名份这样关心我的孩子,我千遍万遍地高呼中国共产党万岁！”
