“Soviet literature and art” was first published in Shanghai. It was the only large-scale translation publication in China before the founding of the People’s Republic of China devoted to introducing Russian literature and art. The magazine was published by the Times Publishing House of the Soviet Union and was founded under the support of Rogoff, the president of the Shanghai TASS Corporation in Shanghai Far East Branch. Edited by Rogoff, the underground party in the Communist Party of China Jiang Chunfang was in charge of specific editorial matters. Due to the involvement of the Soviets, the Chinese translation process of the magazine to Russian and Soviet literature and art was almost synchronized with the development of the Soviet literature, and some publications were specially sent to Soviet writers. This made the “Soviet literature and art” an effective carrier of cultural exchanges between China and the Soviet Union . It can be said that “Soviet literature and art” is an important window for the centralized display of Russian literature and art in Shanghai in the 1940s
