湖南省新华书店成立于1949年8月27日,担负着管理全省市州县新华书店和全省图书、中小学课本、音像制品总发行的双重职能。1998年9月28日,与湖南省图书进出口公司合并。经过半个世纪的发展,全省新华书店逐步成为以图书、音像制品、电子计算机、文化用品、出版外贸等为主的多元化经营集团。到1998年底,拥有员工5200余人、售书网点470处、固定资产4.8亿元。1991年到1995年,省新华书店连续5年被评为全国500家最大服务业企业之一;1998年初又相继获得全国新闻出版系统先进集体和伞国“三下乡”活动先进集体的殊荣。
Xinhua Bookstore in Hunan Province was established on August 27, 1949, with the dual functions of managing the Xinhua Bookstore in the prefectures and cities of the whole province, the books and audiovisual products in primary and secondary schools in the province. September 28, 1998, with the book import and export companies in Hunan Province merger. After half a century of development, Xinhua Bookstore in the province has gradually become a diversified management group focusing on books, audio-video products, electronic computers, stationery, publishing and foreign trade. By the end of 1998, it had more than 5,200 employees, 470 sales outlets and 480 million yuan in fixed assets. From 1991 to 1995, the province’s Xinhua Bookstore was voted as one of the 500 largest service enterprises in the country for five consecutive years. In early 1998, the province’s Xinhua Bookstore successively won the honorary titles of the advanced collectives of the national press and publication system and the advanced collectives of the “three rural areas” of the umbrella country.
