高等师范院校的美术教育,培养着未来的中小学美术教师。中小学美术教育是一种人文教育,它对陶冶学生情操,提高审美能力,完善个性发展,促进学生健康成长具有重要意义。中小学的美术课程,是学校实施美育最重要,最直接的必修艺术课程。一个优秀的中小学美术教师不仅仅是美术知识与技能的简单传授者,他同时担负着教书育人的重任。培养高素质的美术教师是高等师范院校美术教育的神圣职责。
