宁西铁路线是一条在陇海线和长江之间横跨我国东中西部的东西大干线,其中既有宁西铁路南阳至合肥段为单线、内燃牵引,线路通过能力小,客货运输质量不高,难以满足客货运量快速增长竞争需要,必须对该段线路进行扩能改造。根据宁西线扩能改造项目运量预测及功能定位的分析,通过研究宏观建设方案、增建第二线建设方案及其主要技术标准、引入地区建设方案、牵引供电方案等,提出扩能改造方案推荐增建第二线、速度目标值宜采用160 km/h,引入各地区或枢纽、站后配套等尽量与既有设备相衔接方案,避免既有线大的改动,是适宜的。
