For nearly 30 years, retaining natural teeth has been widely used to support complete dentures. Retaining the natural teeth under the denture can delay the absorption of the alveolar bone and maintain the ontological sensation of the periodontal ligament. Laboratory studies have shown that in the periodontal sensory nucleus, the Ⅴ has a neural connection between the cranial nerves and the masticatory muscles.
