Perth’s investment in public transport infrastructure continues to grow, compared to past travel-dependent car destinations. However, designing a transportation system that can compete with a car for a low-density city poses a serious challenge. Perth’s latest plan and route design for passenger railways is based primarily on land-use planning and is actively seeking bus-oriented development opportunities. It brings a different blend of modes, including bus-oriented development that draws on past traffic and soothes the tumultuous motor vehicle environment, as well as coordinating various modes of transport in transit interchanges through the Western Australian traffic authority so that transit Travel to maximize the attraction. This article aims to examine the opportunities and limitations of the various models.
