新华区位于平顶山市中西部,面积157平方公里,人口27万,市委、市政府、市人大和大部分市直机关座落在辖区内,是全市的政治、经济、文化中心。新华区历史悠久,殷商时期为应国属地。新华区现辖59个行政村和6个街道办事处、58个居民委员会。 新华区的资源十分丰富,其煤炭当列为首位,目前已探明储量约百亿吨,是全国三大煤都之一。这里的煤炭资源,不仅煤种齐全,而且煤质优良。8对现代化矿井在辖区内呈扇形排开,几十对中小煤矿点缀其中,形成极为壮观的矿山景观。每年有近千万吨的优质煤炭输送到全国各地。
Xinhua District is located in the central and western Pingdingshan City, an area of 157 square kilometers, population 270,000, municipal Party committee, city hall, city people’s congress and most of the municipal authorities located in the area, is the city’s political, economic and cultural center.
