中国金属学会轧钢学会于1987年12月1～3日在邢台冶金机械轧辊厂召开了轧辊学术交流会,来自全国43个单位的80名代表参加了会议,并就轧辊生产和使用中的技术和经验进行了交流。会议期间,代表们还参观了邢台冶金机械轧辊厂的生产、研究设备和轧辊热处理炉。为了提高轧辊质量,开拓轧辊新品种,加强轧辊制造厂和轧钢厂之间的联系,轧辊学组(直属)工作会议决定,建议轧钢学会将轧辊学组(直属)升格为轧辊学术委员会,
