美国档案工作者协会(The Society of Ameri-can Archivists,缩写为SAA),成立于一九三六年,是一个由个人和公共机构参加的专业性团体。这些个人和公共机构均对档案、手稿,现代文件以及机读文件、录音记录、照片、电影胶卷、地图的安全保护和提供利用感有兴趣。这个协会的全体成员包括有服务于政府机构的个人、学术机构、商行、教会和专业社团。虽然这个协会的地区性根基是在美利坚合众国和加拿大,但由于它在世界上六十个国家中都有成员,因此使美国档案工作者协会成为一个国际性组织。
Founded in 1936, the Society of Ameri-can Archivists (SAA) is a professional body of individuals and public bodies. Both these individuals and public agencies are interested in the protection of archives, manuscripts, modern documents and machine-readable documents, sound recordings, photographs, motion picture film, maps and the sense of utilization. All members of the association include individuals, academic institutions, businesses, churches and professional associations serving government agencies. Although the association’s regional foundations are in the United States of America and Canada, the Association of American Archivists has become an international organization because of its membership in 60 countries in the world.
