城镇回族聚居区社会文化形态的形成和发展建立在以商业服务业为主的经济基础之上,围寺而居的教坊不仅仅是一个地理居住单位和社会文化生活单元,而且是一个围坊而商的商业经营单元,体现了经济理性和生活方式的紧密相联。围坊而商的街居经济和依坊而商的贸易市场共同构成了城镇回族聚居区的经济形态,这种经济形态的形成,是回族特有的生计方式和社会文化模式共同形塑的结果。甘肃临夏市是一个典型的个案。
