Bonheur d’occasion (1945), introduced here, is a masterpiece of the author, based on the 1976 edition of Canada’s Boshamon Press. Fiction to a long plot to start, the Buddha Lohren Tina’s love experience is the main line. The waitress of the restaurant committed itself to the ambitious John Lovinsk with a child in order to escape poverty. But Leviš, whom she loved, abandoned her. In order to justify her pregnancy, Florentina was married to Emmanuel, who she did not love so much and would go to Europe to fight. Around this main line, the authors also describe the problems caused by the strained living conditions of a Florentine mother in the St.-Henri area. This is precisely the epitome of life in poor working-age areas during the economic recession. This novel profoundly reflects the social reality of the time and has a strong record color, thus arousing great resonance. La Detresse ed l’enchantement, which inherits the author’s exquisite style, is an important memoir of his later years and is published after the author’s death. The first chapter of this book, based on the 1984 edition of Canada’s Borrell Press, now gives an insight into the author’s childhood.
