鸳鸯蝴蝶派小说家汪仲贤在小说《歌场冶史》中为我们塑造了许多生活在特定男权社会背景下的女性。她们既依附于男权社会,妥协软弱;同时又是一群具有现代意识的女性,反叛独立。在这些女性中,杨柳青算是其中的典范,尽管她的反抗到最后以堕落失败而告终,但其自我意识的觉醒与自我救赎的精神为广大追求个性独立与自尊的女性树立了榜样。
