在北国名城哈尔滨举行的乙亥年海峡两岸红学研讨会上,大陆、台湾、及特邀的香港、美国红学专家,就体现我们伟大祖国优秀文化和文化传统的辉煌巨著《红楼梦》进行了热烈而精深的研讨,代表们高谈阔论,其中多是真知灼见.当然,因是百家争鸣,故有观点之异、流派之争.原文化部部长、著名作家王蒙在大会上不仅对《红楼梦》进行了学术探讨,而且对《红梦楼》的研究方法进行了独到精采的阐释.(王蒙的演讲已整理成《<红楼梦>的研究方法》一文,将在《北方论丛》1996年第3期发表)王蒙先生大度兼容、是真知深的演讲,博得了与会专家一阵又一阵热烈的掌声,受到了大家的一致赞誉.王蒙先生的演讲,从方法学入手,注重《红楼梦》的整体性、系统性、信息广大性和它的文学性与非文学性,在肯定以往《红楼梦》研究成果的同时,又指出了以往研究《红楼梦》的局限性.他站在中国文化的至高点上,用文学、哲学、社会学、宗教学及自然科学等来审视《红楼梦》的文化内涵,探讨《红楼梦》的丰富意蕴,这无疑拓宽了《红楼梦》的研究视野,开辟了《红楼梦》研究的新途径,打破了《红楼梦》研究中“各持己见、唯我独尊”的门户之见,对正确研究《红楼梦》,弘扬中国优秀的传统文化,推陈出新,古为今用等具有很大的现实意义和深远的历史意义.
