Studies of glacial marine sedimentation along the Pacific margin of the Antarctic Peninsula have shown that there is currently little sediment formed by glaciers entering the sea. This is related to the sub-polar climate that limits the inflow of fjords to the entrance to the fjord to the polar climate region, except in South Shetland Islands. Compared with the warmer Alaska and Chilean fjords, the deposits found here are thin and the seismic reflection profiles of most fjords are supported.
