经典的基因表达理论认为,所有RNA分子都是线性结构,测序方法只能分离具有特征性分子尾巴的那些分子。环状RNA的末端连接在一起,缺乏这些尾巴,因此被普遍忽略掉了。所以环状RNA一直飞行于雷达之下,鲜被发觉。最新研究证明,环状RNA不仅存在,而且广泛存在于人体细胞内外,包括血液、唾液及心脏,提示环状RNA或可作为心血管疾病的新型治疗靶点和生物标记物。
Classical theory of gene expression suggests that all RNA molecules are linear and that sequencing methods can only separate those molecules that have characteristic molecular tails. The ends of circular RNA are linked together, lacking these tails and are therefore generally ignored. So the circular RNA has been flying under the radar, was found. Recent studies have shown that not only circular RNA, but also widely exist in human cells, including blood, saliva and heart, suggesting that circular RNA can be used as a new therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases and biomarkers.
