过去,人们一直认为热带地区第三世界国家有好几百万婴幼儿死亡的原因是因缺乏蛋白质而引起的恶性营养不良病(Kwashiorkor)。然而,最近由英国利物浦大学热带医学系热带小儿科的亨多里克斯教授等人阐明了热带恶性营养不良病的发生不仅与营养不良或营养失调有关,而且还与黄曲霉毒素有关。
In the past, it was believed that the deaths of millions of infants and young children in Third World countries in the tropics were due to Kwashiorkor’s malnutrition caused by a lack of protein. However, Prof. Hendricks, who is a professor of tropical pediatrics at the Department of Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool, UK, recently stated that the occurrence of tropical malignant malnutrition occurs not only with malnutrition or malnutrition but also with aflatoxins.
