爱情是文学史上的经典话题。在英国文学史上,《傲慢与偏见》与《德伯家的苔丝》都是关于爱情的经典小说,然而却一喜一悲,结局迥异。为什么会造成这样的差异呢?浪漫主义时期的作家简·奥斯汀和维多利亚时期的作家托马斯·哈代根据不同的社会背景、写作手法指出造成伊丽莎白和苔丝爱情结局差异的原因,从而得出两篇小说结局不同的结论。
