(附图版六及插图四,)1930年哈安姆(Heim)等任研究广州市附近地质的时候,创立“小坪系”一名,用以代表发青于本区的中生代地层。后来因为本系往往含有煤层与植物化石,于是亦有人称为“小坪煤系”,其标准地点在广州西北郊小坪车站。小坪煤系的植物比石,最先是张席禔教授研究,著有小坪系植物化石之鉴定”[8]一书,其中鉴定的种属计有:
