Q: People both at home and abroad are familiar with you as a member of the International Olympic Committee and as a leader in sports. However, few people know about your personal situation. Can you tell us about your experience? A: If you are interested in this, then all right. My father is a soldier. Although my parents were Moscow, I was born in Khabarovsk in 1935. In 1939 we returned to the capital. When I was 11, I was drawn to sports and started to learn how to swim and then hit the water polo. In 1958 graduated from the Institute of Physical Education, and then graduated from the High School correspondence. For years the Communist Youth League and the party’s work, served as deputy secretary of the Communist Youth League in Moscow. Then he served as the first vice chairman of the State Sports Commission. 1980 Moscow Olympic Games Organizing Committee, the first vice chairman. I have been in charge of the work of the Commission of the Russian Federation for 10 years.
