Based on the experimental data, the characteristics of maximum clear water scour hole around groins were studied by correlating to the approach velocity of flow, mean sediment size, depth of flow and ratio of length of permeable to impermeable part of groin. Empirical equations for prediction of scour hole characteristics were proposed based upon dimensional analysis and laboratory experiments.
Based on the experimental data, the characteristics of maximum clear water scour hole around groins were studied by correlating to the approach velocity of flow, mean sediment size, depth of flow and ratio of length of permeable to impermeable part of groin. Empirical equations for prediction of scour hole characteristics were proposed based upon dimensional analysis and laboratory experiments.
