西瓜种子表面有一层黏液,黏液中含有糖分,种子浸湿后表面形成一种水膜张力,致使发芽床的水份难于控制,种子易受霉菌寄生,用常规方法测定西瓜发芽率往往偏低,无法正确估价种子实际应用价值,造成播种量增加,浪费种子。收购种子时,也不能恰如其分地评定种子等级。采用毛巾卷套塑料薄膜测定西瓜种子发芽率取得比较满意的结果。具体方法如下:
