Fuhai, with its beautiful “Great Wall beyond the Great Wall,” is located in the middle of Altay, the northernmost part of Xinjiang. It is surrounded by the Altay Mountains to the north and from the Junggar Basin to the Gurbantunggut Desert to the south. The terrain is descending step by step in the north and the south, followed by mountains, hills, Gobi, plains, deserts, Wulungu and Irtysh rivers flowing through the territory.
