Luoyang is one of the first national historical and cultural cities announced by the State Council and one of the eight ancient capitals of China. It is the starting point of the eastern end of the Silk Road. I. THE FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE SILK ROUTE The Silk Road is a major artery of communication across Asia, Europe and Africa. It departs from the Mainland of China, passes through Central Asia and West Asia to the east coast of the Mediterranean, and then transmits to Europe and North Africa. This is a road to business contacts, but also a cultural exchange. Due to the variety of silk produced in China then
