The U.S. economy is facing an unprecedented test of hunger and is gradually getting closer to the general public. According to the British newspaper The Independent, 28 million or 9% of Americans rely on food stamps from October 2008 to sustain their livelihood, a figure that will break the highest mark in more than 40 years in the food stamp welfare program.
