The West German Defense Ministry is funding the feasibility study of a 30kM hollow-surface anti-aircraft missile system that has entered service in the 1990s, originally intended as a NATO co-development project to replace the “improved Hawk” and “Dog” anti-aircraft missiles. The initial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) led in fact to the study of the multinational program, which was completed in early 1980. However, no agreement has been reached on plans for various phases of the NATO countries in the future. In addition, the West German air force also proposed the need for a “Hawk” and “improved Hawke” type of follow-up tactical requirements, making West Germany decided to engage in FMS-90 research
