The contents of five important metal elements Zn, Ca, Mn, Mg and Fe in mature fruits (pulp and seeds) of 15 cultivars of olive cultivars introduced from 6 different countries in Xichang were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results of the principal component analysis and cluster analysis to determine the characteristics of the introduction of olive fruit metal elements and the 15 species were classified. The results showed that the content of five kinds of metal elements in the flesh and seeds were in the order of Ca> Mg> Fe> Zn> Mn. The contents of Ca, Zn and Mn in the seeds were higher than those in the flesh, while the contents of Mg and Fe in the flesh were high Among the seeds, Mn, Mg and Fe in the flesh and Ca in the seeds were the characteristic metal elements for the introduction and cultivation of the olive fruit in Xichang. Fifteen varieties could be classified into five categories. To a certain extent, this reflects that there are genetic differences among these five kinds of metal elements in the fruits of Olea europaea. This difference can be used as an important reference for the identification and classification of the cultivars of Olea europaea.
