(一)解放前概况本会成立于1936年,设总会于上海,主要的工作是编印了创作性的本会数学学报和介绍性的数学杂志,并协同当时的编译馆审定数学名词。次年,七七事变,会务(?)停。1940年本会同人在昆明组成新中国数学会,举行年会,宣读论文,继续刊行数学学报。抗日胜利,本会工作者随各大学复员,于1947年在南京开会,议决恢复原名——中国数学会,修订会章,号召各地组织分会。(二)重新筹组解放以后,本会应求新的改进。1949年7月,中国自然科学工作者代表会议筹备会在北京举行。北京及由各地来京之数学工作者集议数次,商讨本会重新筹组办法,当经决定:就其时已经解放的各大城市推选临时干事,办理会员登记,筹组该地分会;由京津同人修改会
