The choice of the number of teeth of locomotive traction gears (including other gear drives) determines the repetitive meshing frequency of the two gears, and the repetitive meshing frequency has a significant impact on the working reliability and service life of the traction gears [1]. Taking DF4D locomotive as an example, this paper puts forward an improved design scheme for the unreasonable design of the number of traction gears, and analyzes the relationship between the number of teeth, the gear ratio and the repetitive engagement frequency, pointing out that The principle of selecting the number of traction gears is not that the gear ratio is an indefinite fraction or ideally a prime number with decimals [2], but not the common divisor of two gears.
