第一章淡入:纽约市意大利人居住区的一家肉铺。逐渐显出的是卖肉人那把锯的特写镜头,锯子正小心翼翼地割着一块牛的肋肉。镜头往后拉,出现了正在工作的卖肉人.然后是整个铺子。卖肉入是个三十六岁的青年,态度和蔼,长得矮胖结实,头已开始秃顶。他几乎总是那么善良和亲切,让人感到可爱。铺子里有三位女顾客。一位是推着婴儿车的年轻妈妈,她正在门口和另一位年约四十的妇女聊天。在买东西的是一位身材矮胖,上了年岁的意大利妇女。
Chapter One Fade in: A butcher shop in an Italian settlement in New York City. Gradually a close-up of the saw of the butcher is carefully cutting a piece of beef’s rib.
