2013年7月1日,京泰基智能电召项目在汕头试运行。2013年10月1日,京泰基智能电召项目在汕头正式开始运营。2013年11月6日,广东省交通运输厅刘晓华厅长在汕头市公共交通便民项目启动仪式上表示,汕头京泰基出租车智能电召是一件利民的好事情,拟在佛山和粤东五市,汕头、揭阳、潮州、汕尾、梅州重点推广。2013年11月12日,广东省交通运输厅下文调研汕头模式。2014年3月,汕头市京泰基电子科技有限公司成立,深圳京泰基持股51%,汕头五家出租车公司共持股49%。2014年3月,汕头出租车智能终端的安装完成,项目如期落地。汕头京泰基步入运营正轨期。
