With the discovery of the“central dogma”of life science, the molecular mechanism of genetics and evolution of biological species has basically been established. However, the com-pletion of the Human Genome Project at the turn of the 21st century has begun to uncover the complexity of individual lives.Although the evolution of living individuals depends mainly on the sequence of genes, its complexity and di-versity cannot be explained by the“central dogma”alone.Biomolecules, including proteins, nucleic acids and poly-saccharides,are the basic“building blocks”of life, providing the material basis for living processes, and are subject to dynamic chemical modifications and regulation.

According to an annual flagship report produced jointly by the FAO and several other organizations, almost 690 million people,or 8.9 percent of the world\'s population, were still suffering from chronic hunger in 2019 (FAO et al.,2020).Moreover,the disast
Commensal bacteria boost serum IgG production in response to oral immunization with antigen and cholera toxin(CT)in a manner that depends on Nod2(nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein 2).In this study,we examined the role of intesti
Epidermal growth factor(EGF)has been shown to improve piglet intestinal morphology and epithelial recovery. In an attempt to further understand the mechanisms behind these improvements, this study tested the hypothesis that dietary EGF may affect intestinal
Dear Editor,rnLung disease is a serious concern in humans and domestic animals.Huge economic losses are caused by enzootic pneumonia in the swine industry worldwide (Maes et al.,2018).The lung can be easily invaded by environmental pathogens, resulting in
Subcutaneous fat(SCF)and intramuscular fat(IMF)deposition is relevant to health in humans,as well as meat production and quality in pigs.In this study,we generated RNA sequence data for 122 SCF,120 IMF,and 87 longissimus dorsi muscle(LDM)samples using 155
RtcB,a highly conserved RNA ligase,is found in all three domains of life, and demonstrated to be an essential tRNA splicing component in archaea and metazoans. However, the biological functions of RtcB in bacteria, where there is no splicing, remains to be cla
Copy number variation(CNV)is the most prevalent type of genetic structural variation that has been recognized as an important source of phenotypic variation in humans, animals and plants. However, the mechanisms underlying the evolution of CNVs and their fun
