Laws are generally used to control and restrain behavior. The law can also be used in a positive way to provide protection for journalists and make them do their job of providing information to the public. How to protect journalists in the age of cyber and digital rights management is a new legal challenge that is emerging. The key law for the legal protection of European journalists is the European Convention on Human Rights.
