Since entering the “new normal” of gear shifting, the Chinese economy has struggled hard on the slopes. In 2015, facing a very complicated and severe situation, the annual economic growth was 6.9%, the lowest in 25 years. The economic slowdown in some areas, caught in a rare “winter ”. Nevertheless, China’s economic growth rate is still low at a global rate, contributing more than 25% to world economic growth. Moreover, it is not easy to achieve this against the background of the global economic recovery. At the end of last year, the research team of China Economic Times selected eight provinces with the most serious economic downturn as samples to conduct in-depth investigations and interviews, listened widely to people from all walks of life and tried to describe the status quo in an all-round way and to find out the problems, causes and solutions.
