探索不同宗教传统艺术表现形式的跨文化展览,通常聚焦于信仰的主题方面,这些信仰与其各自经籍的内容及含义相关。美国鲁宾艺术博物馆曾举办的“圣书的装饰艺术”展览(二○一二年四月六日~九月三日),通过对比的方式强调了展品的美学性和创造性。如带装饰的佛教、耆那教、印度教、基督教及伊斯兰教的圣书。本文回顾了此次展览,并在物质文化的背景下讨论了一些图文并茂的藏文手稿。由于这些物件被细致地创造、使用、欣赏和传承,它们被直接或含蓄地定为圣物,而其作为艺术品及宗教信仰之物的价值也得到了确认。
Intercultural exhibitions exploring traditional religious expressions of different religions often focus on the thematic aspects of faith, which are related to the content and meaning of their respective classics. The “Decorative Art of the Holy Books” exhibition (April 6 to September 3, 2012), organized by the Rubin Art Museum in the United States, emphasizes the aesthetics and creativity of the exhibits through contrasting ways. Such as decorative holy books of Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam. This article reviews the exhibition and discusses some well-illustrated Tibetan manuscripts in the context of material culture. As these objects are meticulously created, used, appreciated and handed down, they are directly or implicitly identified as sacred, and their value as art and religious beliefs is also confirmed.
