李鹏1928年生于四川成都,1941年参加工作,1945年加入中国共产党。上世纪50年代留苏回国后,从事电力工业部门技术和管理领导工作28年。1983年6月以来,直到2002年11月,先后任国务院副总理、代总理、两届总理,其间曾兼任过国家教委主任、国家体改委主任。十二届中央政治局委员、中央书记处书记,十三届、十四届、十五届中央政治局委员、常委。1998年至2003年担任全国人大常委会委员长。李鹏在担任九届全国人大常委会委员长的五年中,坚定不移地贯彻执行党的路线方针政策,始终致力于加强和改进人大工作,为坚持和完善人民代表大会制度,加强社会主义民主法制建设作出了重要贡献。
Born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1928, Li Peng joined the work in 1941 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1945. After returning to China in the 1950s, he worked in the technical and management leadership of the power industry for 28 years. Since June 1983, until November 2002, he successively took the post of Vice Premier and Acting Premier of the State Council and two prime ministers of the State Council.
