According to the Ministry of Commerce, from January to October 2005, there were 35,300 newly established foreign-funded enterprises, an increase of 0.48% over the same period of last year. The contractual foreign investment reached 145.878 billion U.S. dollars, up 22.53% over the same period of last year. The actual utilized foreign investment was 48.411 billion U.S. dollars, down 2.12% from the same period of last year. From January to October this year, the top 10 countries that have invested in China are: Hong Kong, British Virgin Islands, Japan, South Korea, USA, Singapore, Taiwan Province, Cayman Islands
