我国长江沿岸地区松毛虫二、三代分化的决定因子是光周,分化的比例决定于第二代幼虫孵化的时间。八月初以前孵化的,大部份可完成二代进入三代,而八月上、中旬以后孵化的,绝大部份就以第二代幼虫越冬。分化比例的大小明显地影响越冬虫口的基数。温度和营养等因子通过对松毛虫生长发育的影响,而影响其二、三代的分化。重庆地区松毛虫的临界光周值为13 h30 min左右,二、三代分化的临界日期在八月上旬前后,这一问题的解决为长江沿岸松毛虫种群生态学研究的进一步深入和数量变动的预测提供了基础和依据。
