王子云先生,我最崇敬的导师、我生活的楷模。没有人能象王子云先生那样对我的人生道路产生如此深远的影响,无论我在神州大地踏勘中国历代皇帝陵墓,或是遍访美国各大博物馆搜寻中国雕刻资料,先生的身影无时不在伴随着我,先生的教诲无时不在耳边回响,激励着我在艺术探索的道路上跋涉不息。 1984年,我有幸成为王子云先生的研究生。先生当时在广州美术学院陈少丰先生家写作,百忙中给我来信,特别强调:“作为大学研究生,进学校后首先应确定自己研究的课题。要早有方向,逐步缩小圈子,厚积薄发,广博才可能精深。”在研究方法论方面,先生反复提醒我:“过去这方面专家多数是为研究而研究,很少能运用新观点,开创出研究的新路子,我们是美术专业者更要随处从美术的角度进行探索,……一切都在改革一切都在创新,研究中外美术史或从事美
