这个系统将涉及被CurrentContents/Life Sciences(即期目次/生命科学辑)引录的1350余种全球最著名的科学杂志。
The American Institute of Scientific Information is building a brand new project - the Electronic Library. The system will involve more than 1,350 of the world’s best-known science journals, cited by CurrentContents / Life Sciences. All references, abstracts and full-text data from these magazines can be obtained from this system with the publisher’s consent. This project will also measure usage, including economic and confidentiality issues. Various aspects of its prototype, such as the publisher’s involvement, the ordering and use of users, the transmission of information, printing, copyright protection, are all designed by ISI and its co-developers. This project will set up eight experimental sites in North America and Europe for testing and will release up-to-date information at regular intervals. This plan was founded in August 1994, the experimental phase is expected to last 18 months. After implementation, 800,000 users worldwide can provide services.
