作为世界上唯一一个依靠陶瓷托起的城市,景德镇立市已经1700多年。景德镇的城市发展史就是一部陶瓷兴衰史。史书上记载,景德镇的制瓷历史最早可以追溯到在汉代,到唐代末年已有实物可考,而进入元宋以后特别是明清两朝,景德镇的瓷业高峰出现前所未有的空前繁荣景象,此后数百年间长期处于世界瓷业顶端。景德镇之所以能雄踞世界陶瓷产业中心地位,除了千年制瓷技术水平高超,还得益于这里自古瓷(石)土矿藏资源富饶,历经千年挖掘开采不绝,至今仍在支撑着景德镇这座古老工业城市的生存和发展。
