《文艺争鸣》自2003年第五期起,推出了“新世纪文艺理论的话题性笔谈”专栏,意在梳理自20世纪90年代以来,尤其是新世纪以来中国文艺理论的进展,以媒介论、生活论、语言论、情感论、社会论、文体论等文艺理论的基本范畴为话题展开“笔谈”,希望能在这些既定范畴中生发“问题意识”,以笔交谈,切蹉意见,努力推动中国文艺理论在新世纪的深入发展。至2005年第二期止,这个专栏共推出相关“话题性笔谈”约十余次7个专题,发表文章六十多篇,三十余万字。这个专栏因其鲜明的时代性受到了文艺理论界的关注,有些文章引起了热烈的争鸣与讨论,有些文章被《新华文摘》等报刊转载或摘要介绍,有的文章如陶东风的《日常生活审美化背景下的教育转型与文化媒介人兴起》还获得“第四届中国文联优秀文艺评论奖”一等奖。这使编者也深受鼓舞。鉴于这个专栏已编发一年多了,其“话题性笔谈”似乎也可告一段落,当此之际,遥想当年陈寅恪为冯友兰《中国哲学史》出版所作之《审查报告》的学术佳话,不禁心向往之,遂援其学术案例约请华中师范大学中文系王先霈先生、四川大学曹顺庆先生、中国人民大学金元浦先生,对这个专栏所发文章包括编辑工作给一总体观察,综合审视,恰当评介。三位先生拨冗审读,发表了各自的见解,令编者和所有参与的作
