In recent years, due to the rapid development of 3D shape scanning techniques, point set and mesh-based model have become the most popular representation for objects with complex shape. Considerable amount of research work is focused on digital geometry and its processing. This special section collects 8 papers addressing respectively the topics of mesh parameterization, shape deformation, model error correction, visual difference analysis as well as modeling with subdivision surfaces and warping surfaces.
