PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA AND CORTICAL TUMORS OF ADRENAL GLAND:AN IMMUNOCYTOCHEMICAL STUDY OF 40 CASES

Twenly-nine cases of pheochromocytoma(8 extra-adrenal)and11 adrenal cortical tumors are reviewed with special reference to immunocytoche-mical study.Generally these tumors can be lyped according to the histologicalpicture but difficulties may be encountered in about 15%～10% cases.Underthe latter circumstances NSE and ACTH are useful markers for phcochromocy-toma and cortical tumors respectively.Immunocytochemical technique is encerecommended in preference to the use of chromaffin reaction and/or EMinvestigation.
