U.S. formaldehyde production capacity is expected to reach 5.44 million t (37% concentration) by the end of this century; at the same time, the demand will reach 454 t. The total growth rate from now to 1999 will be about 2.5 to 3%/year. The demand for formaldehyde during this period was mainly caused by the diisocyanate
